“I sent an enquiry to Bluelime after finding them through a google search. I got a call back very quickly and arranged a meeting at the property with Mark following which I got a quote very quickly. Me and my partner decided to wait for a bit before deciding so I went back to Bluelime a few months after the initial quote and they managed to give me the same prices which was nice. Following the signing of the contract, the surveyor attended site within a week and I had an initial meeting with the architect shortly after. Our architect Amar has been very respectful, good at communicating with us and has tried to accommodate our ideas. he was very quick with getting back to us following our comments. He went through 4 iterations of the drawings before we signed off the design. My only criticism would be that I wished there were more ideas from Amar rather than just going with what I was suggesting as one of the reasons I hired an architect was to give me the ideas I might have not thought of. Also I noticed that the drawings were rushed and some obvious things were not thought through until I pointed them out after my own research. But I fully appreciate Amar taking on the feedback and modifying the designs to suit what we want to achieve. As someone who is in the same industry I know how hard it is to reach a balance between what your client envisions and putting your own ideas forward so missing things or not putting forward some of your own ideas is understandable. I am also happy with recommendations on different suppliers and will be definitely be checking them out as part of the procurement process. We are now at the stage of planning application submission and overall I am happy with the service and would recommend Bluelime. Hopefully I can provide more feedback following the production of the Building regulation drawings.”

“I came across Bluelime by chance last year when on a mission to do an ‘almost full rebuild’/extension project with all the bells and whistles. Initially we met in January 2022 and I insisted that I had to have this done during the summer this year. Bluelime have been honest and professional – it was almost mission impossible. However, we agreed to go ahead with the drawings and planning permissions, and I took the risk of it being approved, whole progressing with the selection, internals designs and planning. By April-May all the planning was approved and Bluelime have put forward a few trusted construction companies that might have availability for a last-minute project. Eventually I decided to go ahead with Alan Tutton and this was the best decision I made. Project begun in August and in November we are now moving in. It wasn’t cheap, but worth to have a builder/PM you can trust – not many left up there! Thanks Bluelime and Alan!”

“I engaged Bluelime to design an extension for me. The thing which made me go for them over other architects I spoke to was that my initial meeting wasn't with an architect, but rather an experienced builder and project manager, Mark. He quickly "got" what I was looking for, and was able to talk through a few options, to capture the requirements. He showed me examples of their designs, and I was impressed with the level of detail which went into them. Then came Zo, who quietly and efficiently did the laser survey for the plans. Then came Matt, who was our assigned architect. He came well-prepared to the property for our initial meeting, again going over requirements and vision. A couple of weeks later, he came back with the initial design. He was responsive to questions and changes I raised, and it only took a couple of revisions before we were happy to proceed to planning. That's where we are now! Fingers crossed, planning will be forthcoming. So far, everything has proceeded exactly to the timetable. Can't fault what they've done.”

The information and support has been much appreciated. The only critique I have is that there is no direct phone access with the architect. Although he promptly responded to my emails, it would have been good to have the option. I appreciate this may have been a necessary adaptation for the changed working practices in the pandemic, and it has not impacted the working relationship. My plans are awaiting approval and I have every confidence that Matt and the team will support me to the best outcome.”

“We have used Bluelime from the start of our extension process. Our architect has always been friendly and responsive and the quality of workmanship in drawings and plans is excellent. From the survey on you can tell they use state of the art equipment. Not sure if it is due to Covid, but only ever having had one actual site visit from the architect and the rest over video call has been frustrating, it has been difficult to get ideas clearly explained. It is only when you see them drawn can you properly assess whether the ideas work but if not, or if anything has been missed or misconstrued over video calls or emails, then a further zoom consultation and changes to drawings are required and they are classed as forming part of the prepaid package. I feel Bluelime’s model is probably a sound one but it isn’t as effective in the recent environment, without the ability to just pick up the phone to the architect and meet face to face. Bluelime do say from the beginning that the construction estimates they provide on the plans are basic and necessarily arbitrary, but we found them to be well off the mark, and then following amendments to our plan they are not revised. Just a caution but I wouldn’t rely on their basic costing as a realistic indication. After completion of the plans we had our VR appointment and this was fantastic as it gave you a real feel of the space and what to expect. This being at the end of the process does however raise the question of what happens if the VR shows something you’re not happy with. Luckily this wasn’t the case for us.”

“This is my first time doing a home project. The project itself is not too complicated and I was already fairly clear what I wanted before engaging with Bluelime. So far I have been impressed with Bluelime. The communication up till now has been really good and timely and thorough, and the drawings presented clearly. “We are hoping to have a 20 sq metre kitchen extension done at some stage next year. I contacted Bluelime as they sponsor my son’s football team! The first stage was a free design consultation where we had someone visit us to advise us what was possible and gave us some ideas that we may not have thought of otherwise. After deciding to proceed we had a site survey done and measurements using 3D laser, which was very efficient. After that we had a visit from Zaheer who is our architect. Zaheer has produced a number of drawings for us and given some really useful insight. Most importantly I’ve found Zaheer very responsive and the communication has been good. Our drawings have now been submitted to the council for approval which is where we currently are. But so far, I can’t fault the service we’ve received from Bluelime and Zaheer. Amount of time given to us did not appear to be a concern and we finished the call satisfied that everything had been covered. Next stage was the laser mapping of the property, which was done very thoroughly - took longer than expected - but included many more details than I thought would happen (Wendy House in garden mapped for example). However better to be too thorough than not thorough enough. Following that we had a covid compliant face to face meeting with Matt who listened to us wittering away about our thoughts for the new house design. First plans came through on schedule and we had a video call to discuss some amendments which were taken well be Matt. Just over a week later two new options were sent through incorporating all the discussed changes. Once confirmed plans have now been submitted to planning. Fingers crossed it continues to go smoothly. All in all a reassuring experience with Bluelime, good quality work at a competitive price with friendly people who have delivered a wonderful solution at all promised dates along the way.”
